Mid face Lift

Mid face lifts target the area around the nose, eyes, and corners of the mouth.  If you have lost cheek fullness, or your mouth droops, or your lower eyelid position is droopy, you may be a candidate for this type of surgery.  These procedures are particularly effective for patients seeking cheek elevation when the neck and areas beneath the chin do not require lifting.

Why does this occur?
As we age, the structures in our face become looser.  This laxity, together with the effects of gravity, causes the tissues and fatty structures to slide and sag.  This causes the flat cheeks and droopy mouth.

What can be done?
There are a number of different procedures used to tighten and reshape the mid face, including endoscopic procedures, and check implants.

How is the mid face lift procedure performed?
During a mid face lift, small, deep incisions are made in the muscle tissue of the face, usually on the underside of the eyelid or in the mouth to hide the incisions.  Depending upon the procedure, an endoscope (a small, camera-like device) can be inserted through the incisions to view the procedure internally.  Once the incisions are made, the muscle and fat tissue are adjusted, implants can also be added and the incisions are closed.   This accomplishes the pulling up of the middle of the face to smooth and tighten the skin.

What can I expect?
Usually there is some mild bruising and swelling that last for 7-10 days.  One may experience mild discomfort for about 2 - 3 days.  One can usually return to work in one week, and normal activity shortly thereafter.
